Jordan Schneider is a New York City-based director, playwright, lyricist, and educator creating bold, imaginative theatre that pushes the boundaries of storytelling. Originally from Southern California, Jordan holds a BFA in Theatre Performance from Chapman University and an MSEd in Educational Theatre from City College of New York.

 

Influenced by his background in improv, his directing practice is rooted in collaboration, play, and discovery—transforming ideas, materials, and perspectives into visually compelling storytelling that brings audiences closer to the action.

 

Jordan believes theatre is created through collective discovery. His rehearsal rooms are built on trust, curiosity, and shared ownership, empowering collaborators to take risks and contribute their voices. Whether developing new work or reimagining existing material, Jordan seeks to uncover why each story needs to be told now and create experiences that are theatrical, emotionally resonant, and deeply human.

His directing credits include A Christmas Carol, You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown, Urinetown: The Musical, Heathers: The Musical, Spring Awakening, Clue: Stay-at-Home Edition, and Closed Too Soon at The Green Room 42.

 

As a playwright and lyricist, he develops new musicals that explore unexpected genres and theatrical worlds, including Shero, an original musical that reimagines the superhero genre. Alongside his professional work, Jordan serves as a teaching artist with New York City public school students, helping young artists create original plays and musicals.
